Marianne
Zasa is a Certified Group Psychotherapist with over 25 years of
experience leading groups. She has served on the Board of Directors
of the Northeastern Society for Group Psychotherapy, and has been
named a Fellow by the American Group Psychotherapy Association in
recognition of her contributions to the field of group psychotherapy.
Ms. Zasa has taught, supervised, and consulted about groups on both
the local and national level. For ten years she was a supervisor
in the Group Therapy program at Cambridge Hospital, a teaching affiliate
of Harvard Medical School. She currently supervises group therapists
at the Boston Institute for Psychotherapies, Inc., and is a faculty
member in the NSGP Training Program. In addition to group therapy,
Ms. Zasa offers individual and couples therapy at her office in
Newton Highlands.
Ms. Zasa’s understanding of how group therapy is helpful
is that a kind of therapy can take place in group that is unlike
any other. In a group setting that feels safe, people can dare to
risk revealing their innermost thoughts and feelings with a reasonable
expectation of being heard by their peers. This leads to an understanding
of the difficulties they have as they seek to connect with others
in intimate relationships. The possibilities for change and personal
growth are enormous.
Parking:There is metered parking along Lincoln
Street and in the town parking lot on Hartford Street, around the
corner from the office. There is also unmetered parking for 1 hour
further down on both Hartford and Lincoln Streets.
Location: The office is easily accessible via
the MBTA Green Line (Riverside D train) and is one block from the
Newton Highlands stop. By car, the office is three minutes from
the junctions of Route 9 and 128.
