Group therapy is an exceptionally effective method with distinct advantages when addressing interpersonal concerns. Group membership provides a unique opportunity to form a clearer understanding of how we relate to others. The work happens in a supportive environment, with others respectfully sharing that intent for themselves and their fellow group members. To this end, my current mixed-gender groups are focused on the development of intimacy and authenticity in relationships, self –esteem, and issues related to work identity and family. Other past areas of interest include women’s issues, trauma, and substance abuse—all of which continue to inform my group work.
My practice is located in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston. I received my doctorate from the University of Denver in 1989, and have over twenty-five years of experience in leading groups. During my former affiliation with Harvard Medical School, my group work included research on group therapy in the treatment of cocaine addiction. Along with enjoying my individual and group work, I also have specialized training in couples therapy.
I am a Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP), hold membership in the Northeastern Society for Group Psychotherapy, where I have served at the committee level for several years, as well as a member of the Psychoanalytic Couples and Family Institute of New England (PC-FINE).
